Cooper and Me Book Review & Giveaway – a must have for all children! #literature #giveaway US/Canada 11/11/11
Cooper and Me was illustrated by 11-year-old Alexa Peters and co-written with her mother, Monique Peters. The idea was inspired by Alexa’s own experiences on her first day of school.
The story itself revolves around a little girl who is absolutely terrified of her very first day of school. She really wants her beloved canine companion, Cooper to go to school with her but of course that isn’t possible. So her mom comes up with a brilliant solution – making a small stuffed animal that looks just like Cooper for the little girl to take to school with her.
Our son will be attending Junior Kindergarten this coming Fall, and he has already expressed to us a few concerns, namely that his friends (who live in other subdivisions) will not be in his class. This story book is the perfect resource for parents like us who have children who are struggling, or who will likely struggle with overcoming separation anxiety issues.
It is a very fun story to read aloud with our son, and it even includes a series of learning opportunities at the back of the book, which explore various avenues of emotions and feelings with him! It truly is an exceptionally well written (and illustrated) story for children dealing with anxieties. As an early childhood educator (and mama!) I give Cooper and Me two huge thumbs up!
The best part of this story book is that it is written for a child, by a child, making the wording “kid-friendly” and having a lovely rhythmical flow.
Buy it: Cooper and Me retails for $12.99 and is available for purchase at www.cooperandme.com and includes a free download of the cooper and Me theme song, which extends the fun and learning.
Win it: One lucky reader will win their very own copy of Cooper and Me! Please fill out the easy Rafflecopter entry form below to be eligible to win. Open to US and Canadian residents, over the age of 18. Good luck! :)
