Au Fait Mama ~ Breastfeeding Apparel Review & Giveaway! {$56 retail value} US/CAN
Ever wonder why so many breastfeeding moms wear such unflattering nursing tops? It’s not that they want to look frumpy or outdated, it’s that it’s really hard to find quality, timeless pieces! Now that I’m a mom of 3, I can tell you that I know first hand just how hard it is to find stylish nursing wear! And that’s exactly why I’m so happy to talk about Au Fait Mama today!
Dedicated to providing moms like you and I stylish and versatile maternity and nursing-ware (as well as beyond), Au Fait Mama is a Canadian company that specializes in helping women feel good, look good and proudly breastfeed their babies. Based in Vancouver, Canada, owner Joshana McMahon offers her customers 4 amazing products that each promote easy, discreet breastfeeding. I have recently had the wonderful opportunity to try both The Foster Breastfeeding Scarf as well as The Nurture T-Shirt:

What initially caught my eye about Au Fait Mama was the beauty and versatility of the The Foster Breastfeeding Scarf. I immediately loved how stylish it looks and that it can be used as a scarf, a nursing cover and even a nursing shawl (see pic) when worn like a sling! With my newborn being just a week old, I can say that I really appreciate the look and functionality of the Foster Breastfeeding Scarf already and know that it will be a favourite of mine for a really long time – well past our nursing days! Cut longer in the front, this jersey circle scarf is the perfect size and shape for nursing! This is one nursing accessory I wouldn’t want to live without - especially when I’m out and about and my little one is hungry. I love how discreet it is – and the fact that no one even knows it’s for breastfeeding kinda makes me giddy! :) Made of 92% bamboo and 2% spandex, it is extremely soft and comfy! Here I am nursing my newborn with it – and as you can tell, it covers me in all the right places and looks beautiful in the process:

I don’t understand why so many nursing shirts scream “I’M FOR BREASTFEEDING!” but I can tell you that The Nurture T-Shirt surely doesn’t! It features a pull-down style that allows mamas to nurse their babies with ease without the hassle of lifting up flaps, unbuttoning or unzipping our clothes. With one hand I am ready to nurse away – and the best part is that is made from bamboo jersey fabric, which is known to be sustainable, hypoallergenic, naturally antibacterial and breathable. I tend to feel really hot and uncomfortable under most nursing shirts, but I am super comfy wearing this! Plus, as an added little bonus, it is made extra long which helps conceal my post-partum tummy and lower back whether I’m sitting, standing, bending over – whatever I’m doing, I know I’m covered! Due to it’s fantastic design, it also makes for the perfect maternity top, too! Here I am nursing my little guy in it (please excuse the bed-head I’m sporting in this pic) ;)

I would use it because I do breastfeed in public and my sister is always trying to cover me up more which I think actually draws more attention… so if I had this scarf she would quit reminding me of “perverts I don’t know about” =P
