After a very long 4 months of sleepless nights and constant crying, our once colicky & acid-reflux prone baby is doing better than ever. There are distinctively two kinds of nursing mamas in this world: the ones that bare it all and the ones who cover up.

I am a cover-upper. I have no problems with anyone baring it all to feed their child a nutritious meal or snack from their breast, but I, however choose to do so discreetly…well, however “discreet” one can be while trying not to suffocate her baby under a big “hey look at what I’m doing!” nursing cover which is comparable to a sauna because it’s just so-damn-hot-under-there. Okay, sorry for the little rant. Let’s start over…

Do you ever feel like your baby is going to overheat under those things? I know it isn’t just me, I’ve even had conversations with my breastfeeding friends about it. The consensus is that the majority of traditional nursing covers don’t cover the right parts (i.e. my brand-spanking new muffin tops!!) and moms often worry about overheating their babies.

Well have I ever stumbled upon the perfect solution for the new baby and I. It’s a really neat solution made by Baby Bond Nursing Accessories (babybondnursing.com). The concept is simple: cover up mom, not baby.

The style I have is Couture. It’s perfect for me because I wanted something that covers up my sides (ahem, muffin tops) while I nurse. It’s also the only practical style for moms wearing turtle neck tops and sweaters. You can lift your shirt up and still be covered while your baby comfortably nurses, engaging in eye contact with you. And for my fellow frugal friends: not to worry, it’s very reasonably priced at just $35!

I’ve actually found that he latches on with more ease due to my ability to actually see his mouth and having my hands free (opposed to making “air pockets” with my other nursing covers) to move his head at the right time. It’s the best thing next to bare-chest nursing!!

Baby Bond really helps me relax and enjoy nursing him in public now. I finally feel I’ve found the right nursing cover for us. Plus, it’s super convenient to carry in our diaper bag because it rolls up into itself.

But I have to say, the best part is the style I have can also be used as a belly band while I’m not nursing, so it covers up my love handles since my pre-pregnancy tops aren’t long enough to do that anymore. Hallelujah!
