Like Nature Intended: Introducing the up-and-coming, revolutionary BARE™ Air-Free Baby Bottle!

27th June 2011 | 1 Comment

After a very long 4 months of sleepless nights and constant crying, our once colicky & acid-reflux prone baby is doing better than ever. But still, two months in the clear, I can’t help but feel saddened that I wasn’t able to relieve his terrible pains and discomfort during those first 4 months of life.

As a breastfeeding and breast-pumping mama, I strongly feel that breast milk is the perfect food for our babies. Sure, coming straight from the breast is best, but when compared to manufactured formulas, I’m all about serving the boob juice any which way you can – finger, cup, eye dropper, bottle – whatever gets the job done while supporting breastfeeding gets props from me.

That’s why I’m so very excited about a new baby bottle that is being developed, called BARE Air-Free. BARE™ is a designed by a mom and is a revolutionary new baby bottle that truly prevents gas and air from being ingested by your precious baby. Designed to work just like a mother’s breast, BARE trains baby proper latching and self-feeding, prevents bacteria (no air means it’s challenging for bacteria to thrive) and a favourite feature for busy (and who isn’t?) moms – is simplified bottle cleaning.

The BARE™ Air-Free Bottle:

Prevents gas and air ingestion with syringe-like dispensing technology
Teaches baby properly latching with expanding nipple that mimics the movement of natural breast
Eliminates “lazy” and comfort feeding with natural, slower flow and characteristics that mimic breastfeeding
Simplifies bottle maintenance with snap-on one-piece nipple and collar and dishwasher-safe parts
Prevents bacteria by minimizing backwash
Promotes self-feeding by allowing baby to drink from any position
Supports your values by being made in the USA, BPA, PVC, Lead & Phthalate free and supporting green corporate initiatives

BARE will be available on store shelves in January 2012. Because the development and production of BARE is being funded by the mom inventor, I hope moms and moms to be will visit the BARE project page at the fund-raising site, Kickstarter and support the project. In doing so, you will be the first to receive these new, revolutionary bottles – along with various rewards through backing the funding:

$1 You get “special thanks” on the website as contributor and the satisfaction of helping BARE come to life.

$5 You’ll get “special thanks” and your blog name LINK on the site as supporter.

$15 pledge – You’ll get an autographed BARE baby bottle from the first production ever made, retail price is $15. You can pledge in multiples of $15 to get more BARE baby bottles to share. Also you will be given a “special thanks” on the BARE website.

$100 If you own an online store, a boutique, or have more than 1 friend pregnant this is your chance. You get 10 BARE air-free baby bottles! Perfect for baby showers! :)

$500 You’ll get a personalized basket arrangement including 4 BARE baby bottles. Thank you mention in the “BARE diary” (a booklet about how BARE was made including original hand made sketches and pictures), a copy of the “BARE diary” (not for sale), and 2 invitations to the opening party in NYC to celebrate the launch of BARE at the end of the year. And of course a “special thanks” on the website as contributor.

There are also HUGE (and I mean HUGE!) rewards for donations of $2,500 and $10,000! Check out their website to see it for yourself!

BARE Air-Free Bottle is the only one in the market with a one-piece silicone nipple, certified chemical-free and approved by the USA FDA.

This nurser goes beyond a nipple design by creating a system of technologies that work together to mimic the breast. From nipple response, areola shape & texture, milk dispensing, latching process, to milk storage & milk delivery without any air to prevent gas & colic with maximum nutrient retention. It’s moving bottle feeding closer to what nature intended. “Your breasts don’t have air-vents, why should bottles?”

So what are you waiting for? Please visit the BARE project page at the well-known and trusted fund-raising site, Kickstarter and help support the project. Literally EVERY DOLLAR counts – no donation is too small! You can even sign into their site easily with their “Facebook Connect” button – don’t worry, they won’t share any of your Kickstarter data with Facebook, or post anything to your Facebook profile. Remember, in helping fund this project you will be the first to receive these new, revolutionary bottles – along with other various rewards!

6 month old babies: When they become real people.

24th June 2011 | 7 Comments

Last week we celebrated our youngest son turning six months old. My vagina, by the way doesn’t believe it’s been 6 months. She’s pretty sure it hasn’t been that long. But I’ll save that for another post.

Back to our youngest – he’s developing like a rat breeds. One day he’s just laying there, looking lifeless {minus his colicky cries and acid reflux waterfalls of course} and then all of a sudden BAM! He’s an excitable, happy, DROOLING, inquisitive and interactive little guy!

The months between 1/2 a year and a full year are the best for my husband and I. It has the best return on our investment {up until university graduation that is} because he’s learning so much, isn’t very fussy {okay, okay, I know I’ve been complaining all over Twitter about his teething, but we bought him a new shiny Baltic amber teething necklace, so things are way better now} and doesn’t talk back at us! Ahh the life, now if only things could stay this peaceful forever! ;)

We even managed to {bittersweetly} move him out of our bed {I already miss co-sleeping with him} and into his own crib successfully. Successfully doesn’t mean things are perfect. He still wakes up 2-3 times a night to eat. Oh the joys of needing to actually leave the bed to comfort him. Hello, my name is Jenn and I’m a walking zombie. How can I eat – I mean feed you today?

Hmm, what else has he been up to? Oh yeah! He loves scratching the hell out of my face. He just grabs my jowls and rips his tiny but sharp little baby nails into them. All while giggling, gurgling and squealing with delight. So I do what every mom does, lets him have his fun. Sure I have small red slit marks on my face and neck but that’s just how I roll.

Speaking of rolling, this guy loves to roll – frontwards, backwards, sideways, uphill, it doesn’t matter to him. If he wants something he’s going for it. The cutest thing I’ve seen about his mobility is his ability to army crawl like the best of ‘em. He pulls his chunky body all over the carpet, managing to not get rug-burned {that’s a mystery to me} and looks super cute while doing it!

You may be asking yourself how we {like I stated above} celebrated his half birthday. We didn’t do a trendy half cake, or let him eat something he isn’t supposed to, instead took the boys to the park, played around and after tucking him into his own crib for the first time, my husband and I snuggled into one another’s arms and reminisced over the past 6 months. The good, the bad and everything in between. And let me tell you, there was no bitterness to that sweetness.
