R&G: Life Choices’ Whole Fish Fillets – Win a $25 Prize Pack!

As you (probably) already know, the words “Natural” and “Organic” describe my family’s motto for eating balanced, healthy meals. But like everyone else, we have those crazy, “get out of way before I run you over with my car, lady!” nights where either I just don’t have the time for making dinner from scratch, or better yet, I just don’t want to. In fact, easy frozen dinner are my family’s Achilles’ heel. It’s true we can’t live without them – but it doesn’t mean we’re eating crap, either.

Based in Toronto, Life Choices has a mission to make family-friendly, naturally grown and farmed frozen pizzas, mac & cheese, meatballs, all beef hotdogs, breaded chicken and fish and Pierogies – just to name a few. In fact, Life Choices (www.LifeChoicesFood.com) has been “making the right choices easy” since 2002 by “balancing health and great taste” with their delicious, family-friendly organic prepared frozen foods. Clearly I was intrigued when a representative contacted me regarding a review and giveaway for my readers here at Organic-Mama.ca ;)

Life Choices’ natural Whole Fish Fillets made of whole wild-caught Alaskan White fish Pollock comes from Certified Sustainable Fisheries and are breaded with a multi-grain coating that contains flax, whole grains and oats – which also provide sources of Omega-3 fibre.

Life Choice’s frozen foods contain no additives, no preservatives, no colouring, no hormones, no antibiotics, and no other artificial agents – which means you can put your mommy guilt away for other time – like when you forget to feed your kids dinner AT ALL.

And because I believe in keeping the peace (note: sanity) in my home, I pretty much allow my 2.5 year old (a chef in the making!) to prepare breakfast/lunch/dinner whenever he wants – a.k.a. demands. Last night was no different.

We cooked the fillets an extra 5-6 minutes more than the directions recommend – just to really get a nice golden brown colour on them. They turned out really well! Cooked to perfection, tasting light yet flavourful and the texture was dead on perfect – the benefit of eating whole (not minced) fillets! :)

Because I’m a cool mama (or so I like to think) I made a cute bunny arrangement with 2 Life Choice’s Whole Fish Fillets and a serving of vegetable rice primavera for my little guy. For myself, I topped the side dish with 4 fish fillets and ended up throwing a dollop of tartar sauce in the middle for some dipping action. Yum!

My husband, toddler and I all really enjoyed the fish fillets. They were flavourful, crunchy and best of all we could enjoy them guilt-free. I am now hooked (get it, it’s a FISH joke-HA!) on Life Choices and I know you will be too!
