During the first year of dating, the hubster and I had a series of conversations relating to having a family – and we often discussed just how many children we would ideally like to have. Immediately I said 3, and he said none.

None?! Was he serious? Yep. Was I devastated? A little. Deep down I knew that if we were right for one another then surely he’d have to change his mind, because let’s face it: I always knew I wanted to be a mom.

Through the duration of our 6 year courtship, the “kid” conversation would pop up often, eventually leaving the hubster with the realization that he’d be crazy not to procreate with me. I mean, who wouldn’t? ;)

After we had our first child, I quickly realized I wanted another. Oddly so did the hubster, so off to the fertility centre we went and conceived our second bundle of joy. From there it was a quick decision on the hubster’s part to not have any more bundles of joy. I, on the other hand wasn’t so sure right away if our family was complete…until a few months ago when our littlest was just 6 months old and I was having pregnancy symptoms.

I freaked out and the hubster was having anxiety attacks. Once the ‘scare’ was over, it was quite evident to us that our family is complete just as it is. It is so ironic that it took a pregnancy scare to prove to myself that I am indeed done with having children.

So we sold all our baby toys, along with our bassinet and infant car seat. Then we gave away almost every piece of infant clothing I could find laying around – minus a few “keepers”.
